Wisconsin Educators Offered an Opportunity to 
Visit  U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.

Middle and High School educators from public, private and sectarian school settings are encouraged to apply to participate in an educational training program that includes a one-day trip to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. The Milwaukee Jewish Council for Community Relations sponsors the program, in cooperation with the Coalition for Jewish Learning Holocaust Education and Resource Center.

The Wisconsin Educators U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum Trip and Educational Seminar is designed to provide participants with accessibility to educational resource materials related to the Holocaust as well as the opportunity to visit the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC.  The goal of the project is to expand Wisconsin educators’ knowledge and ability to effectively teach students about the Holocaust, as well as its universal and contemporary implications.  

The one-day trip is scheduled for Monday, September 22, 2008. The program includes a pre-trip orientation program on Sunday, September 21, 2008, round-trip air transportation from Milwaukee to Washington DC, a full day at the museum, and a post-trip seminar on Friday, November 7, 2008. The cost to participate is $100.  Accepted applicants must agree to participate in all three components of the project and prepare an action plan designed to use the new information and resources.  

Every effort will be made to insure a broad geographic and demographic representation of Wisconsin teachers.  The program is limited to 70 participants.
